New in Vemcount: Single Sign-On with Google and Microsoft Azure, and Two New Charts in Ziik

Ask any IT administrator at a retail chain what happens the week after a seasonal hiring round and the answer is the same: password resets. A store manager typically holds a handful of separate logins, and the footfall platform has traditionally been one of them. Vemcount no longer needs to be a separate credential. Single sign-on with Google and Microsoft Azure, built on OpenID Connect, is live, and users sign in with the company account they already open their email with. This release also brings two new charts to the Ziik integration and three smaller changes.

Single sign-on with Google and Microsoft Azure: what changes for your users

Once single sign-on is active for your company, the Vemcount login flow hands authentication to your identity provider. A user clicks to sign in, authenticates with Google or Microsoft as they would for any other company application, and lands in Vemcount.

For IT this means one login less to issue and reset: users sign in to Vemcount with the company account they already have. How access is given and removed for your users is agreed with the Vemco team during setup.

One thing to be clear about: there is no self-service setup page. Single sign-on with Microsoft Azure or Google is configured per company by the Vemco team, working with your administrator.

    Before you request setup

Decide who in your organisation owns the identity provider side. In many retail groups the Microsoft tenant sits with group IT while Vemcount is administered by the retail operations or marketing team. Both need to be in the conversation with Vemco when setup is scheduled.

Two new timeline charts in the Ziik integration

The Ziik integration puts footfall and sales reports from Vemcount inside the Ziik frontline communication app, so store teams see their numbers in the tool they already use for shift communication rather than logging into a separate dashboard. Two timeline charts have been added:

    • Conversion Rate – the share of counted visitors who completed a purchase, shown over time so a team can see whether a staffing change or a promotion moved the number.
    • Daily Average Purchase – the average transaction value per day, which alongside conversion gives a store the two levers it can actually influence on the floor.

Conversion is where counting accuracy becomes visible to frontline staff, because the visitor count is the denominator. Vemcount's contractual accuracy minimum is 96 percent, and in practice it is typically 98 to 99 percent where lighting, store layout and visitor behaviour allow. Across 55,000+ installations in 98+ countries that consistency is what makes a conversion trend in a shift-floor app worth acting on rather than arguing about.

Scheduled report export: Snap Reports that arrive by themselves

Scheduled report export is now live for all customers. A Snap Report can be scheduled as a PDF and delivered either as a link or as an attachment. Some recipients prefer a link, others want the PDF itself in their inbox. Either way, the report arrives without anyone remembering to run it on Monday morning.

Moving a sensor, with or without its history

A customer user with the relevant permissions can now move a sensor to another location in Vemcount and choose whether the sensor history moves with it. The choice is the useful part. If a sensor is reassigned because a location was renamed or restructured in your hierarchy, moving the history keeps year-on-year comparisons intact. If the physical device has been relocated to a different entrance or a different store, carrying the old counts across would corrupt the new location's baseline, so leave the history where it was. Shopping centres reconfiguring units between tenants, which happens constantly across the 800+ malls Vemco counts in, will recognise the scenario.

    Receipt numbers in transaction reports

Transaction reports and Excel exports now show receipt numbers, which makes reconciling a Vemcount sales figure against a POS export a matter of matching identifiers rather than matching timestamps and amounts. Only receipt values that were stored from the source integration are shown. If your POS connection does not send receipt identifiers, no receipt number is shown.
