Xovis — Firmware 5 release notes (5.9.2 to 5.8.0)
Xovis sensor firmware 5 release notes summary — covering versions 5.9.2 down to 5.8.0, with key features, breaking changes, and notable bug fixes. Full official release notes are in the Xovis Knowledge Base. Always read release notes before updating production sensors.
FW 5.8.3 and later are irreversible — downgrading below 5.8.3 is not possible after upgrading. Plan firmware updates carefully.
FW 5.9.2 — 13 May 2026
New features:
Age histogram support in custom logic — enables gender-specific age logic and other demographic combinations
Improved AI model for PF-L for gender statistics and apparent age estimation (significantly better accuracy)
Scene configuration: visual hint for splitting geometry lines
Notable bug fixes (Major): PF-L may reboot when detecting objects (e.g. bicycles) — fixed. Count logic with Zone of Interest counts incorrectly in some configurations — fixed. Factory reset could cause PF-L to enter rescue mode — fixed.
FW 5.9.1 — 25 March 2026
Stability improvements. Notable bug fixes: Logic Push not working on PF sensors (initialisation issue) — fixed (Major). PC-Series tracking broken with tracking versions V1/V2 and slight tilt — fixed (Major). TLS connections significantly slower than FW 5.9.0 — fixed (Minor).
FW 5.9.0 — 27 February 2026
Major features:
Space Stitching — new multisensor stitching algorithm. Points can be placed on any surface (not just floor). Requires PF-Series as parent sensor.
Multisensor Tracker — new algorithm for better cross-sensor tracking accuracy
PC2RE WiFi: Sensor Explorer now works over WLAN
Remote connection configuration added to setup wizard
Visualization maps moved into live view (separate Visualization page removed)
Data push: new filter events added (LAYER_ENTRY, LAYER_EXIT, DWELL_TIME_REACHED, RESET)
New age histogram binning configuration in live/logic push
NTP server connection status now visible in settings
Recording viewer quality improved for PC-Series. Recordings can now be validated live on sensor even with limited bandwidth.
FW 5.8.3 — 25 February 2026
⚠ Non-reversible — cannot downgrade after upgrading to 5.8.3.
Added same data push filter events as FW5.9.0. Bug fixes: Large recordings causing sensor stall and reboot — fixed (Major). Recordings playing incorrectly — fixed (Minor).
FW 5.8.2 — 17 December 2025
Bug fixes: Large recordings causing reboots or rescue mode — fixed (Major). Status push stops sending data after time (counter overflow) — fixed (Major). View direction not consistently detected — fixed (Major). Sensor reboots during data push under high load — fixed (Major). Sensor stops connecting to HUB after adding new token — fixed (Minor — requires disabling and re-enabling HUB connection to take effect).
FW 5.8.1 — 24 October 2025
Bug fixes: Sensor sends old count data again — fixed (Major). MQTT data push with long intervals and high data load causes reboots — fixed (Major). Group counting with staff exclusion not counting correctly — fixed (Minor).
FW 5.8.0 — 16 September 2025
New features:
Shopping cart detection — new object detection extension (licence required)
Apparent age estimation — new people attribute extension (licence required)
PC2RE: WiFi configuration now available in rescue mode
Existing logic can be converted to another logic type
Proxy support added for iot.xovis.com connections
Tracking Version V3 optimised to reduce false positives
How to update firmware
Download firmware from hub.xovis.cloud → Products → Downloads → Sensor firmware or via HUB Device Control.
In HUB Device Control, select sensors → Firmware updates → upload and apply.
For manual update: Settings → Firmware → upload .xfw file → apply.
Always check release notes before updating. Update test sensors before rolling out to production fleet.
