Maps and Maps 2.0 — tracking & heatmaps
Vemcount has two mapping modules accessible via the Tracking menu in the top navigation. Choose based on whether you need historical analysis or live real-time monitoring.
Maps vs Maps 2.0
Maps (classic) | Interactive metric maps, tracking maps, and metric-based heatmaps built on historical sensor data. Best for analysing past visitor flow, identifying traffic patterns, and planning layout changes. |
Maps 2.0 | Real-time interactive tracking maps with live positional data and dynamic heatmaps updating continuously. Best for live operational monitoring, real-time queue management, and live visitor journey tracking. |
Heatmaps
Heatmaps overlay visitor density on a floor plan image. Warmer colours (red/orange) show higher traffic or dwell time; cooler colours (blue/green) show lower activity.
Path: Tracking → Maps → select location → Heatmap view
Navigate to Tracking → Maps.
Select a location that has an uploaded floor plan.
Choose the Heatmap view tab.
Set the time period and data interval.
The heatmap renders showing relative visitor density or dwell time per zone.
Maps 2.0 — live tracking
Maps 2.0 requires sensors configured for real-time positional tracking. The map updates live, showing visitor positions and movement paths as they happen.
Path: Tracking → Maps 2.0 → select location
Features available in Maps 2.0:
Data view — live metric overlay on floor plan
Heatmap — dynamic heat overlay updating in real time
Tracking — individual visitor path tracking
User Journeys — aggregate path analysis across multiple visitors
Zone Visitor Flow — flow between defined zones
Info — location and sensor configuration details
Edit mode — zone creation and calibration tools
Requirement: Maps and Maps 2.0 require the Maps permission to be enabled for the user, a floor plan image uploaded for the location, and compatible sensors configured with zone tracking or positional tracking.
