Most buildings are already digitised. That is the uncomfortable truth behind most "smart building" pitches. The people counters are installed, the CO2 and temperature sensors are transmitting, the POS systems export daily, and the leasing team keeps meticulous records. The problem is not data collection — it is that each of those streams terminates in a different dashboard, owned by a different team, on a different refresh cycle. When a portfolio manager asks a simple question like "which floor of this asset is underperforming relative to its service charge?", the answer requires three exports and a spreadsheet.
