1. Access Your Dashboard

  • Log in to Vemcount

  • Navigate to your dashboard view

  • This is where all widgets are created and managed.

2. Add a New Widget

  • Click the blue “+” (Add Widget) button (top-right corner)

  • Opens the widget selection panel.

3. Select “Live Dwell / Queue” Widget

  • Choose Live Dwell / Queue Widget

  • This widget displays real-time queue metrics, unlike charts which show historical trends.

4. Select Queue Metric (Key Configuration)

Choose what queue-related KPI to display:

Common options include:

  • Visitors in Queue (Queue Length)

  • Average Wait Time

  • Dwell Time (time spent in queue zone)

  • Calculated / Estimated Wait Time

  • These are core queue KPIs available within Vemcount

  • Best Practice:

  • Use queue length for quick operational visibility

  • Use wait time for customer experience monitoring

5. Select Data Source (Critical Step)

Define where the queue is being measured:

Typical options:

  • Zone → e.g. checkout area, service desk

  • Location → entire store (less common for queues)

  • Best Practice:

  • Always use zone-level data for queue widgets

  • Ensure the zone is correctly configured as a queue area

  • This step determines where the queue is being analysed

6. Proceed to Widget Layout

  • Click Next

7. Add Title & Description

  • Title (Required): Make it operational and clear

  • Description (Optional): Add context

  • Examples:

  • “Live Queue Length – Checkout”

  • “Avg. Wait Time – Service Desk”

  • “Current Queue – Fitting Rooms”

  • Use action-oriented naming for staff dashboards.

8. Customise Appearance (Highly Recommended)

Adjust:

  • Widget size

  • Colour indicators (if available)

  • Best Practice (Critical for queue management):

  • Use colour thresholds:

  • Green → Normal

  • Amber → Busy

  • Red → Action required

  • This enables instant decision-making without analysis

9. Save the Widget

  • Click Save

  • The widget will now display live queue data on your dashboard
