Purpose: This guide outlines the outbound firewall and network access required for AXIS sensors to communicate correctly with Vemcount services.
Important: All firewall rules should be configured for outbound connections only. DNS resolution for the listed hostnames should also be allowed.
Service | Hostname / URL | Port(s) | Purpose |
MQTT data connection | mqtt.vemcount.com | 1883 | Transmission of AXIS Object Analytics event data to Vemcount via MQTT |
Time synchronization | ntp.vemcount.com | 123/UDP | Time sync for stable and accurate operation |
License validation | license.vemcogroup.com | 443 | License checks and validation where relevant in the Vemcount environment |
AXIS setup note: The official AXIS Object Analytics guide specifies MQTT Host: mqtt.vemcount.com, Port: 1883, Username: vemcount, and Password: mqtt. It also states that event interval should be enabled in the AXIS application and that the sensor MAC address must be added in Vemcount before counting starts.
Configure AXIS Object Analytics to send data over MQTT to mqtt.vemcount.com on port 1883.
Use the credentials from the official guide: username vemcount and password mqtt.
Enable event interval in the AXIS application so event counts are sent correctly.
Add the sensor MAC address in Vemcount before the counting starts.
