TDI (TD Intelligence) — Re-ID people counting & Vemtrack integration

Written by Vemco Support | Aug 19, 2026, 2:08:51 AM

TD Intelligence (TDI) is one of Vemco Group's three primary sensor suppliers. TDI specialises in AI-powered people counting with Re-ID (Re-Identification) — the ability to track unique individuals across multiple cameras without facial recognition. TDI sensors integrate with Vemtrack. Source: TDI EMEA Wiki (emea.tdintelligence.wiki).

What is Re-ID?

Re-ID (Person Re-Identification) uses AI to identify the same person across different cameras — by their appearance, not their face. This enables analytics that basic counting cannot provide:

Unique visitor count

Deduplicates entries — if the same person enters and exits 3 times, they count as 1 unique visitor

Visit duration

From first camera entry to final exit, tracked across the whole site

Customer journey mapping

Which route did visitors take through the store or mall?

Heatmap visualisation

Where do people spend the most time? Based on real movement paths.

Repeat visitor detection

How many visitors came back the same day or within the week?

Cross-camera tracking

Follow a visitor from entrance → aisle → checkout without gaps

Re-ID requires a TD4001 Edge AI Computing Unit — the GPU-based unit that processes all sensor data locally. Without a TD4001, only basic counting is available.

Full product catalogue

3D stereo sensor, 3rd generation. Re-ID ✅. Up to 5 sensors path-linked. AI staff exclusion, deep learning gender, family counting, tilt mounting, 8mm high-mount lens, HD images. Requires TD4001 for advanced AI.

3D sensors — TD2000B Series (NO Re-ID)

TD2000B

Entry 3D sensor. Re-ID ❌. Indoor only. Basic counting, dwell, occupancy. Path linking up to 3 sensors. USB staff exclusion plugin.

TD2000B G2

As above plus outdoor use, passersby counting, HD images, WiFi dongle, basic gender. Path linking up to 3 sensors.

TD2000B G3

Latest B-series. Improved AI but still Re-ID ❌. See feature matrix below.

2D sensors — TD1501/TD1502 (Re-ID capable, tilt-view)

TD1501 G1 / G2

AI Image Recognition Sensor. Tilt-view (CCTV-style mount). Re-ID ✅. Counts entries, exits, and passersby from a single device. Deep learning + Re-ID built-in. Privacy-safe — no facial image storage.

TD1502 / TD1502 G2

Vertical-mount 2D sensor. Re-ID ✅.

2D sensors — TD1001/TD1002 (no Re-ID)

TD1001 / TD1002

Entry-level 2D counters. Re-ID ❌. Basic bi-directional counting only.

Edge AI Computing Unit — TD4001 Series (required for Re-ID)

TD4001 T2

1–4 sensors, <500 visitors/day

TD4001 T6

5–8 sensors, <1,000 visitors/day

TD4001 T21 / G2

9–16 sensors, <5,000 visitors/day

TD4001 GM

Up to 16 sensors — larger deployments

TD4001 Custom

Unlimited sensors, capacity depends on GPU configuration

The TD4001 processes all Re-ID analytics at the edge — no cloud dependency. It integrates directly with Vemtrack for centralized reporting.

When to use TDI vs Xovis

TDI → Vemtrack

When Re-ID, unique visitor counting, customer journey mapping, heatmaps, or repeat visit analytics are required. Multi-camera retail and mall environments. Budget-sensitive projects (2D sensors lower cost).

Xovis → Vemcount

When high-accuracy 3D counting, demographic analytics (gender/age), IoT integration, staff exclusion by badge tag, large-area coverage (PF-Series), or sensor-level data push is required.
