Licence model — how pricing and ARR work in Vemcount

Written by Vemco Support | Aug 19, 2026, 2:31:56 AM

Vemcount and Vemtrack are software licences billed per connected sensor, per year. You pay for software — not hardware. Buy sensors from any source: our webshop, direct from the manufacturer, a local distributor, or a third-party reseller. The connection documentation is the same regardless of where the hardware came from.

How the licence model works

Every sensor you connect to Vemcount or Vemtrack consumes one licence. Licences are billed annually (ARR — Annual Recurring Revenue). The more sensors you connect, the more value you get from the platform — and the higher your ARR grows.

1 connected sensor

= 1 active licence

Licence period

Annual (12 months from activation)

Billing model

Per sensor, per year (ARR)

Hardware source

Any — your webshop, manufacturer direct, third-party reseller, existing inventory

Platform

Vemcount (Xovis + Milesight IoT sensors) or Vemtrack (TDI Re-ID sensors)

What counts as a "sensor" for licensing

Each physical sensor unit that is registered in Settings → Devices and actively sending data to Vemcount counts as one licence. This includes:

  • People counting sensors (Xovis PC2, PC3, PF-L, Milesight VS125, VS133, TDI TD2000, etc.)

  • IoT sensors (Milesight AM series CO₂, VS330 occupancy, WS201 fill level, CT101 energy, etc.)

  • Any other sensor connected via HTTP push, LoRaWAN, MQTT, or FTP integration

A Milesight LoRaWAN gateway (UG65, UG67, SG50) does not count as a licence — it's infrastructure, not a data-generating sensor.

Trial period

New accounts start with a free trial period. During the trial you can:

  • Connect sensors and see live data

  • Build dashboards, reports, and alerts

  • Test all platform features without restriction

When the trial ends, connected sensors automatically convert to paid licences. You'll receive an invoice for the annual licence fee per sensor. There's no need to re-configure anything — your sensors and dashboards remain exactly as set up during the trial.

Adding sensors during an active subscription

You can add sensors at any time during your subscription period. New sensors added mid-year are licenced on a pro-rata basis — you pay for the remaining months of the current annual cycle, then renew with all sensors at the next anniversary.

There is no approval process or sales call required to add sensors. Simply:

  1. Connect the sensor (following the relevant setup guide)

  2. Register it in Settings → Devices

  3. The licence activates automatically when the sensor sends its first data

Removing sensors

You can deactivate a sensor at any time by removing it from Settings → Devices. The licence is not automatically cancelled for the current period but will not renew at the next anniversary date. Contact support@vemcogroup.com to adjust your licence count at renewal.

Where sensors come from — it doesn't matter to us

Vemco Group is sensor-agnostic for licensing purposes. All of the following are valid:

Vemco webshop

shop.vemcogroup.com — sensors pre-configured and tested by us

Xovis direct

Via Xovis HUB — Gold Partner pricing, full firmware support

Milesight direct or distributor

Any authorised Milesight reseller globally

TDI direct or distributor

TD Intelligence EMEA partner network

Existing inventory

Sensors you already own can be connected as long as they support the required protocols

Third-party resellers

Amazon, local IoT distributors, etc. — the sensor works the same regardless of purchase channel

Platform: Vemcount vs Vemtrack

Vemcount

Main platform — people counting, IoT sensors, dashboards, reports, alerts, API. Supports Xovis, Milesight, Brickstream, TDI (basic), and other sensors.

Vemtrack

Re-ID / unique visitor platform — TDI TD2000 G2/G3 + TD4001 edge unit only. Advanced journey analytics, heatmaps, unique visitor deduplication. Separate licence.

How to see your current licence count

Go to Settings → Devices. The number of active (green) sensors listed equals your current licence count. Any sensor showing as offline or inactive still counts toward your licence until removed.
