This guide explains what groups represent in Vemcount and how they are used to report on multiple locations together.
Groups let you combine several locations into one reporting source. They are useful when you need a single total for a defined collection of locations, such as all stores in one country, region, or brand segment.
In Vemcount terminology, the Groups source is used when multiple locations have been categorised together and you want to view their combined data in one result. This differs from Tags, which are used for similar categorisation but return separate results for each location within that category instead of one combined total.
Source | What it returns | Typical use |
Location | One overall total for a single store or building. | Use this when you want site-level reporting for one location. |
Groups | One combined total across multiple selected locations. | Use this for regional, country, brand, or portfolio totals. |
Tags | Separate results for each location that shares the same tag. | Use this when you want grouped filtering but still need location-by-location output. |
Open the relevant Vemcount module, such as Reports or a dashboard widget setup.
Select the correct company if your account has access to more than one company.
In the Source or Source Type dropdown, choose Groups.
Select the required group from the available list.
Choose the metrics, period, interval, and opening hours needed for the analysis.
Save or view the report or widget once the setup has been completed.
If you need separate results for each location instead of one combined total, use Tags rather than Groups.
Important: Use Groups for one combined total across multiple locations. Use Tags if you need separate results per location.
