Most customers start with people counting at their entrances. This guide shows how to expand your Vemcount deployment — adding new sensor types, new use cases, and new data streams to your existing account. Each sensor you add is one new licence and one new data source in your dashboards.
Vemcount is designed to grow with your needs. Your account, locations, and dashboards stay the same — you simply connect additional sensors and add widgets to your existing dashboards. There's no migration, no new account, no restart.
Each expansion path below is independent. You can add them in any order, at any time.
If you have people counters at your entrance(s), you already have the foundation. Everything below adds to this without replacing it.
What you have: Visitor counts, conversion rate, hourly traffic, opening hours filtering, basic reporting.
What you can add:
What it adds: Real-time headcount per floor, room, or zone. How many people are in the building right now. Which areas are crowded vs empty.
Sensors needed:
Milesight VS121 — AI workplace sensor, covers up to 128m² per unit, 16 configurable sub-zones. LoRaWAN or PoE.
Milesight VS340/341 — under-desk sensor for individual workstation occupancy. LoRaWAN, 4+ year battery.
Milesight VS370 — meeting room occupancy with headcount. LoRaWAN.
Hardware source options: shop.vemcogroup.com, Milesight distributors, or any authorised reseller.
Setup guide: Milesight desk & occupancy sensors →
New widgets unlocked: Live Inside (real-time headcount), Presence Overview (desk heatmap), Metric widget (room utilisation %).
Licences added: 1 per sensor connected.
What it adds: CO₂ levels, temperature, humidity per space. Automated ventilation triggers. WELL Building / BREEAM evidence. ESG-Social reporting.
Why it matters: CO₂ above 1,000ppm causes measurable cognitive decline. Monitoring proves air quality compliance and enables energy-saving demand-controlled ventilation.
Sensors needed:
Milesight AM103 — CO₂ + temp + humidity. Tri-colour LED display. 3–4yr battery. One per 100–150m².
Milesight AM319 — 9-in-1 full IAQ (CO₂, PM2.5, PM10, TVOC, HCHO, light, pressure). For premium or client-facing spaces.
Gateway required: 1× Milesight UG65 if not already installed (covers full floor).
Setup guide: AM series IAQ sensors →
New widgets unlocked: Realtime IoT widget (CO₂ gauge, temperature, humidity trends).
Licences added: 1 per AM sensor connected.
What it adds: Real-time stall availability, consumable fill levels (soap, toilet paper), odor alerts, leak detection, cleaning optimisation. Shift from fixed-schedule cleaning to condition-based dispatch.
Sensors needed (full restroom stack):
VS330 per cubicle | Stall occupied/vacant — live availability display |
WS201 per dispenser | Toilet paper + soap fill level — alert at configured % threshold |
GS301 per restroom | NH₃ + H₂S odor detection — auto-triggers ventilation via D2D |
WS303 under sinks/cisterns | Leak detection — 0.5mm threshold, 5yr battery |
WS101 (cleaning button) | Visitor or staff cleaning request button |
VS133 at entrance | Visitor count → usage-based cleaning trigger |
Setup guide: Smart facility management guide →
Licences added: 1 per sensor connected (gateway not counted).
What it adds: Circuit-level electricity consumption, Scope 2 carbon reporting, standby waste elimination, per-zone energy dashboards. Required for ESG/sustainability reporting.
Sensors needed:
Milesight CT101/CT103 — clamp-on current transformers. Self-powered, no shutdown needed. Install on live wires in existing electrical panels.
Milesight EM300-DI — pulse counter on existing electricity/water/gas meters. Converts any metered utility to wireless LoRaWAN data.
Milesight WS501/502 — smart wall switches with per-circuit kWh monitoring + scheduled shutoff.
Setup guide: Milesight IoT ESG sensors →
Licences added: 1 per sensor (CT101, EM300-DI, WS501 each count as 1).
What it adds: Visitor gender split, age bracket distribution, staff-filtered visitor counts. For retail analytics, marketing ROI, and target audience reporting.
Requires: Xovis PC-Series or PF-Series sensors already connected. Activate extension pack licences via the Xovis HUB Licence Administrator.
Extension packs available: Gender statistics, Apparent age, Staff exclusion, View direction (Attention Metrics on PF).
Setup guide: Xovis licence extension packs →
Licences added: Extension pack licences via Xovis HUB (separate from Vemcount sensor licences).
What it adds: Unique visitor deduplication (person enters 3 times → counts as 1 unique visitor), visit duration, customer journey mapping, heatmaps, repeat visit rate. The most advanced retail analytics tier.
Requires: Switch from Xovis/Milesight sensors to TDI Re-ID-capable sensors (TD2000 G2/G3 or TD1501 G2) + TD4001 Edge AI Computing Unit. Runs on Vemtrack (separate platform from Vemcount).
Setup guide: TDI Re-ID technical guide →
Licences added: Vemtrack licences (separate ARR from Vemcount). Contact at@vemcogroup.com for Vemtrack pricing.
What it adds: Remote zone heating/cooling control, occupancy-driven HVAC automation, hotel key card energy saving. Closes the loop between occupancy data and building automation.
Sensors needed:
Milesight WT101 — smart radiator thermostat (fits standard TRV valves). Per-room heating control.
Milesight WT301/303/304 — fan coil unit thermostat. 2-pipe or 4-pipe. Hotel key card mode.
Milesight WT201 — central HVAC thermostat (24VAC systems, heat pumps, boilers).
Setup guide: Milesight WT series thermostats →
Best combination: AM103 CO₂ sensor + WT thermostat via D2D → automatic demand-controlled ventilation. HVAC activates when CO₂ exceeds threshold, switches off when space empties.
Purchase sensors (any source — see licence model guide)
If using LoRaWAN: ensure a gateway is installed and configured (one gateway covers all LoRaWAN sensors in its range)
Follow the relevant sensor setup guide above
Register the sensor in Settings → Devices → + Add device
Add the relevant widget to your dashboard
New licence activates automatically on first data received
