This guide explains how to use Tags in Vemcount to categorize locations and make reporting, dashboards, and data selection easier to manage.
Use Tags when several locations should be grouped by category, but still shown as individual locations when the tag is used as a source.
Tags are labels that can be assigned to locations. They are useful when a company has many locations that need to be filtered or selected by country, region, store type, concept, or another shared category.
In reports and widgets, Tags can be used as a source to retrieve data from multiple locations with the same tag. Unlike Groups, which are normally used for combined totals, Tags are used when the individual locations should still be shown separately.
Open the backend administration and go to Companies.
Select the relevant company.
Open Tags from the company menu.
Create a new tag and give it a clear, descriptive name.
Assign the relevant locations to the tag.
Save the changes.
Use the tag as a source in reports, dashboards, or widgets when you need data from that category of locations.
Important: Keep tag names consistent. Avoid creating several tags that mean almost the same thing, for example “DK”, “Denmark”, and “Danish stores”. Choose one naming standard and reuse it.
Tag example | Typical use |
Country - Denmark | All Danish locations |
Region - West | Locations in a specific sales or operational region |
Store Type - Outlet | Outlet locations only |
Status - Pilot | Locations used for testing or pilot projects |
OBS: If the customer needs one combined total for several locations, consider using Groups instead. Use Tags when the locations should remain visible as separate lines or sources within the selected category.
